Notes

*1 Napolean Bonaparte died at St Helena, his second place of exile. He had been exiled to Elba in 1814 but escaped to France and raised another army.

The page reproduced here is a typewritten copy of the original diary and was made by Monty Trethowan, a local solicitor. The writing on the original is not clear enough to show here.
